New Delhi: The BMW 4 Series coupe and convertible, and the hotter M4 version, are almost edging towards an end. The two-door vehicles, though, aren’t as popular as they once were, but BMW still want to continue with the present models, with rumours around car forums suggesting that the German carmaker are planning to keep it in production until June 2029.
The 4 Series has been a good seller even in the USA, and is even going past the 3 Series. The sales were though better in comparison to the 3 Series, but the overall sales are down from last year.
BMW have recently updated the 4 Series and could have another fresh take before the end of production at the end of the decade. It won’t be much, but BMW have said they will be bringing the Neue Klasse platform technology to the lineup in the coming months.
There had been rumours years ago that the 4 Series would eventually be discontinued due to poor sales and interest in both convertible and coupes. There were reports earlier of the Neue Klasse being the design language for the next generation of 4 Series. With EVs lying in uncertainty, it is only sensible to keep both 4 Series and M4 in the ICE versions intact.
The cars are based on the decade-old CLAR architecture and design, which the brand continues to use, with the customers getting a range of powertrains without limiting the brand’s portfolio offer. Everyone hopes that the M4 will continue until the end of production with a straight-six engine. The engine makes 473 bhp and works well for the BMW and motoring enthusiasts.
