Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the horrific accident involving a bus carrying Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The accident took place while the pilgrims were travelling from Mecca to Medina and reports suggest that many Hyderabadis were also among them.
The CM, who responded immediately, directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to find out the full details. He inquired about the number of people from Telangana. He suggested that they talk to the officials of the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the Saudi Embassy. If necessary, he directed them to immediately take appropriate relief measures.
With the CM's advice, CS Ramakrishna Rao alerted Coordination Secretary Gaurav Uppal in Delhi and directed him to collect the details of how many people from the state were involved in the accident.
A control room has been set up in the Secretariat.

Bus collides with diesel tanker:
Several people lost their lives after the bus carrying Indian passengers from Mecca to Medina collided with a diesel tanker, resulting in a huge fire at around 1.30 am. The deceased were identified as residents of Mallepalli Bazarghat area in the city. It is believed that 20 women and 11 children were among the dead.
Pilgrims were travelling to Medina after completing Hajj rituals in Mecca when the bus collided with the tanker. According to reports, a total of 45 passengers went for the tour including 10 from Al Makkah Tours and Travels, 10 from Al Mina Tours, 25 from Fly Zone.

The deceased were identified as Rahimunnisa, Rahmat Bi, Shehnaz Begum, Ghausia Begum, Qadir Mohammad, Mohammad Maulana, Shoaib Mohammad, Sohail Mohammad, Mastan Mohammad, Parveen Mohammad, Zakia Mohammad, Shaukat Mohammad, Farheen Mohammad, Zaheen Mohammad, Mohammad Manzoor, Mohammad Ali and two others.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "Deeply shocked at the accident involving Indian nationals in Medinah, Saudi Arabia. Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are giving fullest support to Indian nationals and families affected by this accident."
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi also expressed grief over the incident. Speaking to ANI, he said, “The news of the death of about 42 pilgrims from Hyderabad in a bus accident in Saudi Arabia is extremely saddening. I urge External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar that the bodies of those who have passed away be taken back to India, and if anyone is injured, proper medical treatment should be arranged for them.”
