Security has been stepped up at Hyderabad airport after IndiGo airlines received a bomb threat email on their grievance portal on Wednesday, tv9 telugu reported.
The email threat mentioned five cities across the country, including Hyderabad, Chennai, Tiruvanathapuram, Delhi and Mumbai.
The threat email was later confirmed to be hoax after a thorough investigation.
IndiGo collaborates with security agencies:
The message received on the IndiGo portal referenced explosives at multiple airports in the cities mentioned above. The email prompted immediate collaboration between IndiGo, Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and local airport officials.
Following the email, security checks at the five airports included detailed checks, terminal sweeps, passenger screening and baggage re-verification.
Rajeev Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) officials said that preventive measures were stepped up as a precaution.
The CISF, which handles airport security, has increased access control checks, baggage screenings and perimeter patrols.
CISF official said Deepak Verma said that the security teams were on alert and that they are taking no chances.
Hydroponic weed worth Rs 4 crore seized at RGIA:
Hydroponic weed weighing 4.3 kg with a worth of Rs 4 crore was seized at Hyderabad airport from a passenger, customs officials said on Thursday, November 13.
The weed was seized from a passenger arriving from Bangkok and the passenger was arrested, a release from the customs department said.
